Octave Habakurama

“Messengers of Jesus, we’ve come to thank you…”
A Grandfather’s Song. A Mother’s Cry. A Home in Ruins.
His name is Octave Habakurama, and at 86 years old, he should be growing old in peace. Instead, he stands in the shadow of what used to be his home.
“It’s been about two months since my house collapsed,” he says quietly.
“I’m hoping you can help me—as messengers of Jesus.”
Beside him stands Clementine Umuhire, his daughter. She’s 45 and a mother of four. One child is married, but the others still live with her—and they are living in the remains of a broken house. There are no safe walls. No secure place to welcome visitors. No refuge when the storms come.
“I don’t even want visitors because I have nowhere to receive them,” Clementine says.
“My child has struggled so much living like this.”
And yet, their faith has not collapsed. Octave still sings.
“Messengers of Jesus, we’ve come to thank you,
You are the leaders given to us by Jesus,
He is the one who teaches us to serve and worship God.”
This is what hope sounds like.
Octave and Clementine are not asking for much—just a safe place to live out their days, and a stable home where children can sleep without fear and study without rain soaking their books.
We need to raise $5,000 to rebuild a home that collapsed—and with it, nearly collapsed a family’s hope. You can be the answer to their song. You can be the messenger of Jesus they’re praying for.
Will you help us rebuild Octave’s home?
Your gift will:
- Provide a dignified space for an elderly man and his grandchildren
- Restore stability and shelter for a mother raising her children
- Allow a family to welcome guests again with joy instead of shame
Every home we build is more than bricks and wood—it’s a sanctuary for healing, for legacy, and for worship.
Let’s raise the walls again, together.
Rebuild a Home. Restore a Family.
Give now—and let Octave’s song rise from joy instead of desperation.
